WorldBook Web is an excellent grade appropriate encyclopedia with dependable content and rich multi-media features. Students can choose the appropriate reference tool for research according to their language and grade level. Yukon Education subscribes to the following five multilevel products: World Book Kids, World Book Student, World Book Advanced, L"Encyclopédie Découverte, Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos. | |
EBSCO Host is an excellent research source and an online library of Databases for all grade levels. Students and teachers can search for full text articles from magazines and professional journals to support learning in a variety of subject areas. | |
Gale Cengage Learning offers two high school sites, Canadian Periodicals Index Quarterly and Gale Virtual Reference Library, which provide a wealth of Canadian reference information and tools geared for multidisciplinary research. In addition, a third site, Global Issues in Context, helps students and teachers understand today’s world issues from a global perspective. | |
ProQuest’s license agreement permits Yukon teachers access to over 300 periodicals and journal titles addressing all aspects of K-12 education, as well as a reference collection for professional development and continuing education. The database includes publications covering every area of education, including administrative, core and supplemental curricula disciplines, information technology, library science, and more. | |

Access Learning is a Canadian Educational video streaming service. Access Learning is a portal to over 3,500 full length and 20,000 clip level educational video programs. Students and educators can search, stream and download content that has been correlated to provincial curriculum. (Bill Nye Videos, Discovery Canada, Canadian Geographic Kids, etc.) | |
Learn360 is an interactive media-on-demand service that provides streaming video, audio and accompanying support materials. Learn360 supports web-based learning by providing an online collaborative environment where users can share information and ideas. Students can access the classroom webpage and communicate with teachers and classmates via secure class blogs and discussion boards. | |

ONF/NFB - National Film Board of Canada’s online screening room has nearly 1500 films, documentaries, animations, experimental films and fiction for both children and adults. Yukon Education has purchased Expert Space for grades 6-10 teachers and students. Expert Space has online digital content and interactive project tools for building content-area knowledge and expertise for 21st century information skills. Students can work on projects and assignments by searching for information, evaluating sources, note taking, citing sources, and setting goals. They can save relevant articles, media files and web links in their Personal Digital Locker. | |
NoodleTools is an academic research web application. It provides a suite of integrated tools that can be used for note-taking, outlining, citation, document archiving/ annotation, and collaborative research and writing. This application has been designed for upper elementary and high school students. | MediaSmarts develops and provides award winning resources for use in classrooms to improve digital literacy, media literacy, and critical thinking skills for students of all ages.
